Is there a free trial?

Yes. You can begin a 7-day free trial. Once the trial period ends, you will be charged for the subscription you signed up for.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Log into your account, then click Account, and “Manage with Stripe” button. Follow the prompts Stripe provides from there.

I changed my email within my account, but I’m no longer getting the Newsletter.

The Newsletter is run separately from Accounts. If you’d like to use the same email for the newsletter as you use for your account. Unsubscribe to the newsletter and resubscribe using the email you use for your account.

If I cancel my subscription, will I get a refund for the remaining time?

No. Partial refunds are not issued when canceling your account. See the Refund Policy for more details.

Is this site really run by one person?

Yes. I run this site on my own. When you interact with support, it’s just me.

How are payments managed?

All payments are managed through Stripe. 1000 Words does not process any of your credit card details.

Can I create my own Decks?

Currently, users do not have the ability to build their own decks. This may be a feature in the future. You can, however, save a deck as a favorite with selected modifiers, but you cannot create a deck with your own list of words.

I found a word or phrase which is odd or doesn’t make sense, what can I do about it?

When you are studying and come across an odd phrase or a word which doesn’t seem right, click the edit icon on the top-right of the card. Here you will be able to provide feedback. This feedback is reviewed periodically and if approved, the phrase will not show back up during study sessions.

Will I speak fluently using this site?

No. Fluency takes years of practice, immersion with Italian culture. Practicing with other native speakers and building a large vocabulary. 1000 Italian Words is designed to get you from zero to a basic foundational set of Italian Vocabulary which allows you to better understand spoken and Written Italian and be understood when speaking. In addition, you may be able to have conversations at a basic level using 1000 Italian Words.

Most of the words featured on this site and in the decks can be modified in one or more ways, so you not only see the word, but the various forms and contexts that word can appear in. The words also include details such as part-of-speech, gender, and sometimes a useful note to help understand the context of the word more clearly.
